Ministry of Agriculture: 13,067 dairy cattle have been vaccinated as part of the national campaign launched by the ministry across various governorates against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (SAT1)

The Ministry of Agriculture continues to implement the national vaccination campaign for dairy cattle against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (SAT1), as part of the national response plan aimed at limiting the spread of the disease and protecting livestock.

The General Directorate of Veterinary Services reported that a total of 13,067 cattle have been vaccinated across various governorates. In Nablus Governorate, 1,417 cattle were vaccinated in the areas of Zawata, Al-Nasariya, Rujeib, and Ma’in. In Qalqilya, 75 cattle were vaccinated, 599 in Salfit, and 1,000 in Tulkarm.

In Tubas and the Northern Jordan Valley, 240 cattle were vaccinated, while 366 were vaccinated in Jenin. In Jerusalem, 50 cattle were vaccinated, and in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, 500 cattle received vaccines.

In Hebron Governorate, where the campaign began, 4,650 cattle were vaccinated, in addition to 2,325 in Dura, 1,300 in Yatta, and 545 in Halhul, with veterinary teams widely deployed across agricultural communities.

The Ministry stated that it has taken several measures within the response plan, including providing necessary vaccines, forming field veterinary teams, conducting intensive vaccination rounds in cattle farms, strengthening epidemiological monitoring, and increasing guidance and awareness for breeders on prevention and disease control.

It also confirmed that the campaign is progressing according to the scheduled plan, noting that it aims to vaccinate all cattle across the governorates in the first phase, in line with the approved national strategy.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of breeders’ cooperation with veterinary teams and adherence to issued instructions to ensure the success of the campaign and the protection of livestock.

These efforts come as part of the Ministry’s commitment to limiting the spread of epidemics, strengthening the resilience of the livestock sector, and enhancing food security.
