Ministry of Agriculture: Slaimiya meets with a delegation from Kisan Village Council, and discusses the town's agricultural needs, and affirms continued support for the resilience of farmers.

Minister of Agriculture, Professor Riziq Slaimiya, met a delegation from the Kisan Village Council, headed by Council Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Haroun, on Monday. They discussed the village's agricultural needs and ways to bolster the resilience of farmers facing the difficult circumstances they are enduring. The meeting took place at the Minister's office in the Ministry's headquarters in Ramallah, and was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs, Engineer Amjad Salah.

The Council delegation outlined the most significant challenges facing farmers in Kisan, primarily the ongoing settler attacks. These attacks have included land confiscation, destruction of agricultural property and water lines, livestock theft, and encroachment on grazing lands, in addition to the displacement of several farmers. These actions have severely damaged the agricultural and livestock sectors, which constitute the main source of income for the village's residents. The delegation requested urgent support, including solar panels, animal feed, straw, and water tanks, to enable farmers to continue their work and strengthen their resilience.

For his part, Minister Salimiya welcomed the delegation, emphasizing that the Ministry of Agriculture prioritizes supporting the resilience of farmers and is doing everything within its power to mitigate the effects of attacks targeting Palestinian land and people.

Slaimiya added that the Ministry continues to work with its partners, foremost among them the European Union, to implement development and relief projects that address farmers' needs. He stated that the Ministry will work to include the needs of the town of Kisan in available programs and projects, particularly regarding the provision of straw, solar panels, and other interventions that contribute to protecting agricultural production and strengthening farmers' ability to remain on their land.

Slaimiya affirmed that protecting the agricultural sector and bolstering the resilience of farmers in targeted areas is a national priority. He stressed that the Ministry will continue to coordinate with various partners and institutions to expand the scope of support and reach the largest possible number of farmers, thereby contributing to preserving the land, enhancing food security, and consolidating the Palestinian presence in threatened areas.
