🔴 Ministry of Agriculture: Slaimiya opens Sa'ir Agriculture and Veterinary Department and distributes field equipment and agricultural grants to a number of female farmers participating in the Olive Field School.

⭕ Sa'ir Agriculture and Veterinary Department was inaugurated to enhance agricultural and veterinary services in Sa'ir, Ash-Shuyukh, and Al-Aroub.

⭕ Field equipment and agricultural grants were provided to support olive farmers and develop production.

⭕ The newly established department was staffed with agricultural engineers, a veterinarian, and an extension vehicle.

Minister of Agriculture, Professor Riziq Slaimiya, and the Governor of Hebron, Khaled Doudin, inaugurated the Agriculture and Veterinary Department in the town of Sa'ir. This initiative comes as part of the Ministry of Agriculture's efforts to enhance agricultural and veterinary services provided to farmers throughout the country. The inauguration was attended by Commander Abbas Zaki, a member of the Revolutionary Council/Secretary of Fatehi Movement in North Hebron, members of the regional committee, representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor of Ash-Shuyukh, the Mayor and members of the Sa'ir Municipal Council, a number of officials, representatives of civil society and governmental institutions, directors of technical departments and directorates within the Ministry of Agriculture, agricultural extension staff, members of the local community, and a group of farmers.

Slaimiya emphasized that the opening of the Agriculture and Veterinary Department in Sa'ir is part of the Ministry's plan to expand its services and reach various agricultural communities. This will facilitate farmers' access to extension and veterinary services, strengthening their resilience on their land. He added that the Ministry continues to invest in developing agricultural infrastructure and improving the efficiency of services provided, in partnership with various national and international institutions, to achieve sustainable agricultural development and enhance food security.

For his part, Governor Doudin commended the opening of the new department, stressing that it represents a qualitative addition to government services in the region and contributes to supporting farmers and promoting economic development. He also pointed to the importance of continued integration between various official and local institutions to serve the agricultural sector in Hebron Governorate. Following the inauguration, the Minister of Agriculture distributed field equipment to participants in the olive field school in Sa'ir. This equipment included plastic sheeting, mechanical harvesters, electric shears, hand saws, weed control devices (grass cutters), burlap sacks, and materials for preparing attractant traps. He also presented eight agricultural grants to support the participating women farmers in the field school, aiming to improve olive production practices and enhance agricultural efficiency.

The grants and equipment support are part of a project implemented jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with support from the governments of India, Brazil, and South Africa through the IBSA Fund. This fund aims to strengthen institutional and technical capacities and support sustainable development in ruralareas in  Palestine, contributing to the empowerment of rural women, enhancing the sustainability of agricultural production, and improving farmers' livelihoods.
