The Ministry of Agriculture, in partnership with FAO, conduct field inspection tours as part of the “Green Jobs” project, funded by the Danish government, for (331) farmers in Surif, Jala, Shuyukh al-Aroub and al-Shuyukh

Teams from the Ministry of Agriculture, in partnership with a representative from the Food and Agriculture Organization  (FAO), conducted field visits to beneficiary farmers in the town of Surif. The purpose of these visits was to verify the cultivation of targeted crops and monitor adherence to the approved plan, as part of the project “Green Jobs and Sustainable Income Opportunities for Young Palestinian Women and Men in the Agricultural and Food Sector.”

The visits included monitoring the cultivation of several funded field crops, most notably lentils, chickpeas, vetch, and alfalfa, according to plans submitted by farmers and approved by the Ministry of Agriculture. This initiative aims to enhance agricultural production and achieve sustainability, particularly in the area of ​​food and fodder grain crops.

The project is funded by the Danish government and implemented in partnership with FAO. It targets several agricultural communities in the Hebron Governorate, including Surif, Jala, Shuyukh al-Arrub, and al-Shuyukh. The number of farmers who applied to benefit from the project in the town of Surif reached 145, while in the town of Jala, 94 applied, in Ash-Shuyukh, 63 applied, and in Ash-Shuyukh Al-Aroub, 29 applied. Field verification is currently underway to assess the implementation of the agricultural projects and compliance with the approved eligibility criteria.

The Ministry of Agriculture affirms that this project is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the resilience of farmers, create sustainable job opportunities for young people, contribute to achieving food security, and support agricultural development in Palestine.
