Jerusalem Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with Jerusalem Governorate and with funding from the Moroccan Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, implement an extension activity within the field schools for olive farmers in Abu Dis

Jerusalem: March 1, 2026

As part of the ongoing implementation of the Field Schools program, the Ministry of Agriculture, represented by Jerusalem Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with Jerusalem Governorate and with funding from the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency, conducted a field day in the town of Abu Dis targeting olive farmers. This event was part of the weekly Field Schools meetings.

The field day included practical training on pruning olive trees according to sound technical principles, along with field monitoring and assessment of the trees' overall condition, all aimed at improving productivity and fruit quality. Farmers were also informed about the most common pests and diseases affecting olive trees, and were shown methods of prevention and integrated pest management, thus enhancing their ability to address field challenges.

Jerusalem Agriculture Directorate emphasizes that these activities are part of its efforts to support farmers' resilience, promote sound agricultural practices, and transfer technical expertise through the Field Schools model, which will positively impact the development of the olive sector in Jerusalem Governorate.
