The Ministry of Agriculture’s veterinary services and animal health departments conducted an extensive campaign for animal disease vaccination and prevention. The initiative covered 10 veterinary districts and zones across 8 governorates, administering a total of 9,692 doses to 254 farmers and livestock breeders. The vaccinations targeted Foot-and-Mouth Disease, Brucellosis, Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), and sheep pox. In Hebron, the Veterinary Department administered 587 doses of brucellosis vaccine to replacement females—benefiting 61 livestock owners—across the areas of Khallat al-Jarra, Al-Bir al-Sufli, and Prince Qais Street in Tarqumiya; Sha’b al-Qatin, Wadi Risha, Al-Zahlaqa, and Sha’b Jadallah in Idhna; and Khirbet Qalqas. Additionally, 316 doses of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine were administered to sheep in Khirbet Qalqas (benefiting 6 owners), and 500 doses of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) vaccine were administered in Idhna (benefiting 7 owners). In the South Hebron/Dura area, 100 doses of brucellosis vaccine and 688 doses of FMD vaccine were administered to sheep in Deir Samit (benefiting 49 owners), and 125 doses of brucellosis vaccine were administered in Al-Dhahiriya (benefiting 8 owners), alongside 200 doses of PPR and sheep pox vaccines (benefiting 4 owners). Meanwhile, the North Hebron veterinary team administered 650 doses of FMD vaccine for sheep and 150 doses of brucellosis vaccine in Shuyukh al-Arrub and Halhul areas (benefiting 30 farmers), while Yatta veterinary team administered 700 doses of FMD vaccine to cattle in Al-Karmel area (benefiting one livestock owner). In Tubas, veterinary teams administered 211 doses of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccine to sheep in Al-Far'a area for six farmers, 22 doses of Brucellosis vaccine for five farmers, and 250 doses of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) vaccine for three farmers. In Jenin, 1,200 doses of PPR vaccine, 350 doses of sheep pox vaccine, and 175 doses of Brucellosis vaccine were administered, benefiting 16 livestock owners. Meanwhile, Jericho and Jordan Valley veterinary services administered 1,550 doses of FMD vaccine to sheep and 275 doses of Brucellosis vaccine, benefiting 22 individuals.
In Nablus, 266 doses of Brucellosis vaccine were administered to 12 beneficiaries in Al-Tawil/Aqraba area. Bethlehem veterinary services administered 784 doses of FMD vaccine to sheep and 100 doses of Brucellosis vaccine to replacement ewes, benefiting 16 individuals in Arab al-Rashayda area. In Qalqilya, the campaign included 175 doses of Brucellosis vaccine in the areas of Habla, Kafr Thulth for six beneficiaries, and 293 doses of FMD vaccine for sheep for two beneficiaries, in addition to 25 doses of FMD vaccine for cattle in Azzun.
The Ministry of Agriculture, through its veterinary teams and departments, continues to implement preventive vaccination campaigns across various governorates and regions. These efforts aim to curb the spread of animal diseases, protect livestock, prevent potential losses for farmers and breeders, safeguard their investments and sources of income, and enhance food security regarding animal products.
