Governorates: September 14, 2026
On Monday, September 14, 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture—represented by its veterinary services and animal health departments across the governorates—conducted an extensive field veterinary vaccination campaign. The campaign covered seven governorates: Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Jerusalem, Hebron, Jenin, Bethlehem, Ramallah and Al-Bireh, and Nablus. Its objectives were to protect livestock, curb the spread of epidemic diseases, improve herd health, and support the resilience of farmers and livestock breeders.
In Jericho and Jordan Valley Governorate, the campaign involved vaccinating 1,400 sheep against FMD and 25 head against Brucellosis, benefiting 10 farmers in the Al-Jiftlik area. In Jerusalem Governorate, 650 doses against FMD and 150 doses against Brucellosis were administered to 17 beneficiaries in the areas of Qalandia Al-Balad, the area below the Jaba' checkpoint, and Wadi Sa'b in Al-Eizariya. In Hebron Governorate, the Veterinary Department vaccinated 475 female replacement animals against brucellosis in the Wadi Aziz area of Idhna town and the Harat al-Shalafah and Al-Khor areas of Tarqumiya, benefiting 35 livestock owners; additionally, 200 animals were vaccinated against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) and 150 against sheep pox, benefiting 5 owners in Tarqumiya. The North Hebron Veterinary Department also conducted a campaign in Halhul, Sa'ir, and Bani Na'im areas, administering 515 doses against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and 500 doses against brucellosis, benefiting 42 farmers. In South Hebron/Dura, 341 doses against brucellosis were administered to 34 beneficiaries, 794 doses against FMD to 45 beneficiaries, 200 doses against PPR to two beneficiaries, and 50 doses against sheep pox to one beneficiary in the Beit Awwa and Al-Dhahiriya areas.
In Jenin Governorate, the campaign included 150 doses of FMD vaccine for sheep, 150 doses for sheep pox, 150 doses for PPR, and 75 doses for brucellosis, benefiting 13 farmers, in addition to 400 doses for PPR benefiting 5 farmers. In Bethlehem Governorate, 1,826 doses against FMD were administered to 11 beneficiaries and 275 doses against brucellosis to 8 beneficiaries in Arab al-Rashayda area, alongside 100 doses for sheep pox to two beneficiaries and 50 doses for PPR to one beneficiary in Al-Manshiyah and Tuqu' areas. The Veterinary Services Department of Yatta Agriculture Directorate conducted a field visit to Umm al-Shaqhan – Khallat al-Miyah area, covering 15 farms; during the visit, 460 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine and 150 doses of brucellosis vaccine were administered to sheep and goats. In Ramallah and Al-Bireh, 1,650 doses for foot-and-mouth disease and 400 doses for brucellosis were administered to 71 farmers in Beit Sira, while Nablus veterinary team administered 318 doses of brucellosis vaccine to 14 farmers in Bazariya.
The Ministry of Agriculture reaffirms its commitment to continuing veterinary vaccination campaigns and reaching farmers and livestock breeders across various regions. Veterinary prevention serves as the first line of defense for livestock and farmers' income sources, thereby contributing to herd protection, loss reduction, food security, and the resilience of farmers on their land.
