The Department of Agriculture and Veterinary Services in Methalon/Jenin, with FAO support and EU funding, completed training for 46 women livestock farmers from Methalon and Siris on dairy safety and good farm management.

Methalon Agriculture and Veterinary Department, under supervision of Jenin Agriculture Directorate, conducted a four-day specialized training program, with two days of training in each of the two towns (Siris and Mithalon), targeting 46 female farmers working in the livestock sector. The training, titled "Farm Management and Hygiene of Dairy Products," was part of the project "Strengthening the Skills and Practices of Livestock Breeders at All Stages of the Animal Value Chain in the West Bank – Palestine," funded by the European Union and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization  (FAO) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture.

The training aimed to enhance the capabilities of women working in the agricultural sector, raise awareness of sound hygiene practices during dairy product production, and develop effective farm management skills, which will positively impact production quality and food safety.

The training also included guidance on safe handling of milk products and best practices related to farm management and livestock care, contributing to increased production efficiency and improved quality of animal products. Jenin Directorate of Agriculture confirms that this activity is part of a series of training and extension programs implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with its partners. These programs aim to support livestock breeders, empower rural women, and enhance their economic participation, in addition to disseminating sound agricultural practices and promoting the concepts of sustainable agricultural development.

This training comes within the framework of joint efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and (FAO) to develop the capacities of those working in the livestock sector and improve various stages of the animal value chain. This contributes to strengthening food security and improving the livelihoods of farming families in the targeted areas.
