Northern Jordan Valley: April 30, 2026
The Northern Jordan Valley Directorate of Agriculture in Tubas conducted a specialized training workshop entitled "Silage Production and Feed Mix Preparation." The three-day workshop (two days of theory and one day of practical application) targeted 40 sheep farmers in the Bardala area, as part of the "My Initiative – Empowering Marginalized Communities through Investment in Agricultural Business Development" project.
This activity was implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and funded by India, Brazil, and South Africa through the IBSA Fund, within the framework of efforts to support the resilience of the agricultural sector in marginalized areas.
The workshop aimed to empower farmers to produce self-sufficient, locally sourced feed alternatives, thereby contributing to reducing operating costs and ensuring the continuity of livestock production, especially in light of the field and economic challenges faced by livestock breeders in the Northern Jordan Valley. The training also focused on equipping participants with practical skills in feed formulation and silage production, enhancing their ability to adapt to challenging conditions and transform challenges into opportunities for economic empowerment and resilience on their land.
Project organizers emphasized that targeting livestock breeders is part of supporting the most vulnerable groups and strengthening their capacity to protect their livelihoods, thus contributing to the sustainability of agricultural and livestock production in the region.
