Under the supervision and participation of the North Hebron Agriculture Directorate, the Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ) and the United Palestinian Appeal delivered home garden supplies to 15 beneficiaries in Beit Einoun area of Sa’ir town. This initiative is part of the “Sustainable and Innovative Solutions in Agriculture and Water to Enhance Food Security, Climate Resilience, and the Economy” project, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture.
This step comes within the framework of supporting home gardening and enhancing the ability of beneficiary families to produce a portion of their food needs, in addition to improving water use efficiency and providing agricultural inputs that contribute to strengthening the climate and economic resilience of families and local communities.
The estimated cost of each home garden was approximately US$700. The provided supplies included a 1 cubic meter water tank, a 1.2-meter high iron stand, 400 meters of 16 mm diameter drip irrigation hose, 50 meters of 32 mm diameter agricultural hose, 25 kg each of ammonia fertilizer and compound fertilizer, an iron rake, a hoe, and a water pump.
The package also included components and fittings for assembling the irrigation network, such as valves, starters, and end fittings, ensuring a complete irrigation system, increasing the efficiency of water use, and enabling beneficiaries to manage their home gardens more effectively.
The project reflects the partners' commitment to implementing practical and sustainable agricultural solutions that link enhanced food security, water resource management, climate and economic resilience, and support the ability of families and local communities to face economic and climate challenges and improve their capacity to produce a portion of their food needs.
