The Higher Steering Committee for the EU-funded Agricultural Assistance Program has completed the final handover procedures for three projects in Qalqilya Governorate, with a total value of approximately 150,000 shekels. These projects are part of the second phase of the program, which comprises 53 projects across all governorates of Palestine.

The handover included two projects in the livestock sector, in addition to a 1.1-dunam plastic greenhouse planted with colored peppers, along with a container and production inputs including fertilizers and pesticides.

This final handover process is part of the Higher Steering Committee's ongoing monitoring of the program's projects at all stages. This monitoring begins with the signing of agreements with beneficiaries, continues through on-site inspections, and extends to the supply, implementation, and construction processes, culminating in the final handover of the projects. This ensures that the projects are implemented according to the approved terms, standards, and technical requirements, and that they achieve their intended objectives.

The agricultural assistance program targets farmers affected by attacks from the occupation and settler groups. These attacks and the resulting damages have been documented according to the requirements and standards adopted by the European Union for eligibility for the program, ensuring that aid is directed to the most affected and needy farmers.

The committee emphasizes that this ongoing monitoring aims to ensure the development of sustainable agricultural projects that not only provide immediate support but also constitute a sustainable source of income for beneficiaries. These projects contribute to enhancing agricultural production in both the plant and animal sectors, improving resource efficiency, and strengthening food and water security.

These projects align with the Ministry of Agriculture's approach of directing agricultural aid towards productive projects that address the actual needs of farmers, bolster their resilience and ability to continue production, and contribute to the development of the agricultural sector and the achievement of sustainable agricultural development.
