Nablus: October 3, 2026
The local committee for the national olive harvest campaign in Nablus Governorate held an expanded coordination meeting, chaired by Governor Ghassan Daghlas. The meeting aimed to discuss preparations for the olive harvest season, formulate plans to enhance the protection of farmers and their agricultural lands, and provide the necessary support to help them confront attacks by settlers.
The meeting was attended by Fateh Central Committee member Dalal Salameh; Deputy Governor of Nablus Colonel Abdullah Al-Asali; Director General of Civil Liaison Roni Abdul Razzaq; Deputy Director of Military Liaison Fursan Bani Jaber; Director General of Local Government Engineer Samer Khammash; Director General of Nablus Agriculture Directorate Engineer Ziad Fadda (along with the directorate staff); representatives from international organizations and the Palestinian Civil Defense; Fatih Nablus regional committee members Nidal Mleitat and Nasser Jawabreh; as well as heads of municipalities and village councils, and secretaries of Fatah organizational zones.
Governor Daghlas emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts and strengthening coordination among official institutions, relevant agencies, local bodies, and national stakeholders. This aims to ensure protection and support for farmers during the olive harvest season—a vital source of income for thousands of Palestinian families that is deeply linked to the steadfastness of the people and their attachment to their land. The meeting emphasized the need to formulate a clear field action plan, identify the needs and priorities of villages and areas targeted by settler attacks, and strengthen communication among various stakeholders. This aims to ensure a rapid response to any attacks or obstacles facing farmers, facilitate their access to their lands, and enable them to harvest olives safely.
Participants also discussed mechanisms to enhance cooperation among relevant entities, as well as the integration of roles in providing support to farmers. This includes monitoring the status of agricultural lands, overcoming obstacles preventing owners from accessing them, and safeguarding national agricultural resources.
The Ministry of Agriculture underscores the importance of coordinating national, official, and community efforts to ensure a successful olive harvest season. It highlights the need to provide protection and support to farmers—particularly in areas threatened by settler attacks—thereby bolstering their resilience and preserving the land and national agricultural wealth.
This meeting is part of the preparations for the national olive harvest campaign led by the Ministry of Agriculture. The campaign aims to unify efforts, expand partnerships between official institutions and local communities, and reinforce the principle that protecting the land and the farmer is a shared national responsibility.
