Ministry of Agriculture: Technical committees in Jenin receive a project for a conveyor line for farmers in Araba Plain as part of the European aid program

The technical committees at Jenin Directorate of Agriculture received a water pipeline project for irrigating a vineyard in Araba Plain. This project falls under the European Union's assistance program aimed at strengthening the resilience of farmers in threatened areas.

The project involved the construction of a 2-kilometer water pipeline to irrigate the vineyard in Araba Plain. The total cost was approximately 60,000 shekels. Water was piped from Araba reservoir to the vineyard, which is located on the main road leading to "Dotan" settlement. This location presented significant challenges to the project's implementation due to the sensitivity of the area and the surrounding conditions.

The project aims to support the resilience of farmers and enable them to continue cultivating their agricultural lands. This is particularly important as the beneficiary farmer had previously suffered the demolition of a 250-cubic-meter metal water tank on the same vineyard in an attempt to disrupt his agricultural activities and prevent him from continuing to farm.

The project also included the installation of trellising netting (known locally as "Raishet") over three dunams of grapevines, which will help protect the crops and improve productivity. It is worth noting that the new pipeline does not only affect the targeted farm, but also benefits about 30 farmers in the region, as it serves approximately 50 dunams of agricultural land planted with various crops including open and protected vegetables, in addition to grape and almond trees, which enhances the sustainability of agricultural production in the Araba Plain and supports the resilience of farmers on their land.
