The Ministry of Agriculture received six pilot alternative feed projects in Dura worth 170,000 shekels under the “Sanet” program, supported by Italian Bari institute and Palestinian partners

The technical committee at the Ministry of Agriculture received six pioneering agricultural projects specializing in the production of alternative animal feed, valued at 170,000 shekels, in Dura area south of Hebron. The handover took place in the presence of the Director General of Agriculture for South Hebron, Engineer Khalil Abu Aqifan, the National Coordinator of the SANET project, Engineer Ouda Sabarna, and with the participation of specialized technical teams from the Ministry and the Palestinian Employment Fund.

These grants are part of the "Supporting the Agricultural and Food Cooperation Network in Palestine - SANET" project, implemented by the Bari Mediterranean Agronomic Institute (CIHEAM Bari) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Palestinian Employment Fund, and with funding from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).

All the delivered equipment and supplies underwent rigorous technical inspection by the specialized committee to ensure their compliance with international technical specifications and their adherence to approved quality standards, thus guaranteeing operational efficiency and sustainable production. The projects focused on providing pioneering farmers with a package of modern technologies, including advanced equipment for manufacturing and preparing alternative animal feed locally, thus contributing to reducing reliance on imported feed.

Engineer Khalil Abu Aqifan emphasized the strategic importance of these projects in supporting the livestock sector, especially in light of current challenges, stressing their role in reducing operational costs for livestock breeders.

For his part, Engineer Ouda Sabarna explained that the interventions of the "Saneet" project align with the Ministry of Agriculture's strategy for developing value chains, particularly in the alternative animal feed sector. He noted that these interventions will contribute to reducing feed costs and improving nutritional value, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of national products and supporting the food security system.
