In response to the repercussions of the Israeli attacks in the northern Jordan Valley, the Ministry of Agriculture implements an urgent intervention to support livestock breeders

The Ministry of Agriculture implemented an urgent intervention to support the agricultural sector and bolster the resilience of farmers. Two truckloads of animal feed (45 large bales of hay, each weighing 450 kg) were distributed to the livestock breeders most affected in the Tubas Governorate and the northern Jordan Valley. This initiative is part of the Ministry's efforts to mitigate the impact of the difficult conditions faced by farmers and livestock breeders.

The feed was delivered this morning to address some of the growing need for fodder in the region, particularly in light of the repeated attacks by settlers against farmers and livestock breeders in the northern Jordan Valley. These attacks have resulted in damage that has impacted their access to grazing lands and their ability to meet the needs of their livestock.

This intervention comes in response to the needs identified during a field visit conducted by the Minister of Agriculture, Riziq Slaimiya, to Atouf and Ras al-Ahmar areas in the northern Jordan Valley. The visit aimed to assess the conditions of farmers and livestock breeders and to monitor the effects of the ongoing attacks and violations they are experiencing. During the tour, the Minister got a brief description on the extent of the damage and challenges facing agricultural communities in the area as a result of repeated attacks and confiscations by the Israeli occupation forces. These actions have escalated following the construction of a new military road in the area, which has restricted farmers' access to their lands and pastures, exacerbating their suffering and that of livestock breeders. Recent measures have also included the confiscation of thousands of dunams of land in the northern Jordan Valley, directly impacting the livelihoods of hundreds of farming and pastoral families.

This intervention is part of the Ministry's emergency response plan to support livestock breeders and provide essential feed, contributing to the preservation of livestock, the sustainability of agricultural production in the governorate, and strengthening the resilience of citizens on their land.

The Ministry of Agriculture affirms its continued commitment to monitoring the needs of farmers and livestock breeders and providing all possible support to the most affected groups, thereby enhancing their ability to continue production and confront current challenges.

It is worth noting that several agricultural interventions will follow this one, particularly the installation of replacement water pipelines for those that have been damaged.
