Minister of Agriculture, Professor Riziq Slaimiya, conducted a field visit to the town of Surif and the village of Adeir, where he met with a number of farmers and representatives of local authorities, as well as the new municipal council of Surif. He congratulated them on assuming their duties and wished them success in serving the citizens and promoting local and agricultural development.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized that agriculture is the cornerstone of resilience and survival, and the fundamental pillar in strengthening national food security, especially in light of the conditions and challenges facing rural areas and farmers.
Salimiya stressed the importance of the partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and local authorities, considering them essential partners in implementing fieldwork and addressing citizens' needs, which contributes to developing the agricultural sector and strengthening the resilience of the local population.
The minister also addressed the ongoing attacks by the occupation and its settlers against agricultural lands and farmers, stressing the need for concerted efforts to preserve the land and strengthen resilience and steadfastness in the targeted areas.
Salimieh noted that the town of Surif possesses promising agricultural potential, emphasizing that the ministry has implemented several agricultural projects and activities in the area recently, and that work is underway to implement new projects in the coming phase, all aimed at serving farmers and contributing to sustainable agricultural development.
