Ministry of Agriculture: The Veterinary Department in Tubas conducts a vaccination and tagging campaign for sheep in Khirbet al-Ras al-Ahmar.

As part of the vaccination and tagging campaign launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, under the directives of Minister of Agriculture Professor Riziq Slaimiya, the Veterinary Department of Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley Directorate of Agriculture conducted a field campaign to vaccinate and tag sheep in Khirbet al-Ras al-Ahmar community in the Northern Jordan Valley. On the first day of the campaign, 1,200 sheep were vaccinated and tagged. This campaign will continue in the coming days, covering all targeted areas of the Tubas Governorate, as urgent and rapid support for livestock owners to bolster their resilience and steadfastness on their land.

This campaign is part of the Ministry's efforts to bolster the resilience of farmers and protect livestock in the northern Jordan Valley, particularly in light of the escalating attacks by the occupation forces and settler groups. These attacks include assaults and harassment targeting farmers and livestock breeders. These interventions also come amidst recent measures that have included the confiscation of thousands of dunams of land in the area for the construction of settlement roads, which threatens farmers' livelihoods and exacerbates the challenges facing pastoral communities.

The Ministry emphasizes that the vaccination and tagging campaigns are part of the emergency response program implemented by veterinary service teams to protect livestock, preserve animal production, and enhance food security. This is achieved through vaccinating herds against foot-and-mouth disease (SAT-1) and tagging animals, which contributes to documenting ownership, facilitating animal tracking, and ensuring their protection.

It is worth noting that the campaign is being launched simultaneously in Yatta and Masafer Yatta and will continue until all livestock have been tagged and vaccinated.
