Hebron: June 11, 2026

The Ministry of Agriculture, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and with support from the Danish government, launched a project to develop field and fodder crops in southern Hebron. Financial grants were distributed to 450 farmers during a large public event held in Dura, attended by Minister of Agriculture Professor Riziq Slaimiyah, the Mayor of Dura, several other mayors and local council heads, and more than 500 farmers.

Minister Slaimiyah affirmed that the Ministry continues to focus its efforts on supporting farmers and strengthening their resilience. He noted that the project, with a total value of 4.4 million shekels, targets 1,550 young men and women working in the agricultural sector. It contributes to expanding the cultivation of strategic field and fodder crops, enhancing Palestinian food security, and creating job opportunities in rural areas.

The event also witnessed the announcement of funding for 27 water collection ponds from Beit al-Roush Dam, along with the provision of a sand filter for the dam. This project, implemented by the FAO and funded by multiple donors, aims to improve water resource management and ensure its sustainable use in the agricultural sector, positively impacting agricultural production in the region.

Additionally, 30 agricultural kits containing various farming tools and equipment were distributed to farmers by the Land Research Center in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture. This distribution is part of a series of development interventions aimed at increasing agricultural production efficiency, empowering farmers, enhancing their ability to face economic and climate challenges, and strengthening their resilience on their land.
