The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Eng. Badr Al-Hawamdeh granted financial grants to 286 male and female beneficiaries (19-29 years old) from the towns of North Hebron, Surif, Beit Ummar, Al-Shuyoukh, and Al-Aroub sheikhs, as part of the first phase of the green jobs and sustainable income opportunities project for young Palestinian men and women in the agricultural and food business sector implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and with financial support from the government of the Kingdom of Denmark, during a meeting held in the city of Halhul in the presence of the President of the United Nations. North Hebron Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Mahmoud Allan, Mr. Hani Jaara, Secretary of the North Hebron Organization, and the Governor’s Assistant, Mr. Musa Haroun.
The project comes within the framework of efforts aimed at supporting youth and farmers and promoting the cultivation of field and fodder crops, which contributes to raising agricultural production, improving livelihoods, and creating sustainable income opportunities for rural families. The first phase benefited 286 beneficiaries from various targeted communities in northern Hebron.
The project aims to implement agricultural works on an area of ​​1,200 dunums, while the work was completed on about 1,000 dunums during the first phase, with the second phase being launched during the coming months of October and November to complete the planned works and interventions.
Undersecretary Al-Hawamdeh confirmed that the Ministry continues to implement its development programs aimed at empowering youth and promoting investment in the agricultural sector, noting that these projects contribute to enhancing food security and supporting the steadfastness of citizens on their land, while the mayor of Halhul praised the importance of the project and its role in serving farmers and developing agricultural activity in the region.
